Google Family Link is the standard-issue utility for any family in the Android or ChromeOS ecosystem. It's not 'fun,' and your kids will probably hate it, but it does exactly what it says: it puts a floor under the digital chaos.
It is best used as a bridge to self-regulation rather than a permanent surveillance state. If you want to manage a Chromebook or an Android tablet without paying for a third-party subscription, this is the default choice.
