Look, if you're doing a deep dive into horror history, you have to watch this one because of the mask. But as a standalone movie? It’s pretty mid. The acting is wooden, the plot is non-existent, and the 3D gimmicks are more distracting than scary.
For a modern kid, this will likely feel more like a comedy than a horror movie. If they aren't already obsessed with the Friday the 13th lore, there are much better 'cabin in the woods' movies that won't make them fall asleep between the kills.
