Ford v Ferrari is that rare beast: a crowd-pleasing blockbuster that's also genuinely excellent filmmaking. It's a 2.5-hour movie about engineering a race car, and somehow it's never boring.
The film works because it's really about friendship, integrity, and two outsiders fighting The Man (in this case, Ford Motor Company). Your teen doesn't need to care about cars to get swept up in the underdog story. The racing sequences are visceral and exciting, and the relationship between Shelby and Miles is genuinely moving.
The main parental consideration is the car crash that kills a character - it's handled respectfully but it's sad and intense. There's also PG-13 language and it's a LONG movie. But for teens (especially 13+), this is fantastic: entertaining, historically enriching, and full of themes worth discussing about passion, perseverance, and standing up for what you believe in.
Not appropriate for younger kids due to content and length, but for the right age group, this is one of those rare films that's both a great watch AND a great conversation starter.
