Flush is a classic for a reason. Carl Hiaasen manages to take a disgusting premise—a casino boat dumping toilet waste into a pristine harbor—and turn it into a hilarious, high-stakes adventure.
It’s aged remarkably well because the themes of corporate greed versus environmental protection are more relevant now than they were in 2005. It doesn’t pander to kids; it treats them like the only people in the room with any common sense.
If you have a kid who is 'bored' by reading, give them this. It’s punchy, funny, and has just enough 'Florida Man' energy to keep them turning pages.
