El Tigre had a clever premise and solid cultural representation for 2007, earning that 100% critic score. The idea of a kid caught between superhero dad and villain grandpa is legitimately interesting, and the Latino protagonist was refreshingly different for Nickelodeon at the time.
But let's be real: this is an 18-year-old cartoon that only ran for one season. The animation style, pacing, and humor are firmly stuck in the late-2000s Nickelodeon aesthetic. Kids raised on modern animated shows with movie-quality animation and sophisticated storytelling (think The Owl House, Gravity Falls, or even current SpongeBob) will likely find this clunky and dated.
The 6.3 IMDb rating tells the story—it's fine, but not memorable enough to have aged well. If your kid stumbles across it on Paramount+ and enjoys it, great. But there's no compelling reason to seek this out in 2025 when there are so many better options available. It's more of a 'sure, if they're bored and it's already on' show than a 'you have to watch this' recommendation.
