Drake and Josh is a perfectly safe, mildly wholesome sitcom from the golden age of Nickelodeon—if you're a millennial parent, you probably have fond memories. But here's the thing: it's 20+ years old, and it shows.
The humor is heavy on physical comedy, scheming brothers, and laugh-track-punctuated punchlines that feel quaint in 2025. Modern kids raised on faster-paced YouTube content or sharper animated shows might find it slow and predictable. It's not bad—it's just... very 2004.
Developmentally, it's fine. Characters learn lessons about honesty and cooperation, even if they take the scenic route. But don't expect much enrichment beyond 'lying gets you in trouble.' It's brain-neutral entertainment—your kid won't get dumber, but they won't get smarter either.
If your 9-year-old is into it, great. It's harmless. But if they're not immediately hooked, don't push it. There are better uses of screen time, and frankly, better modern sitcoms that hit the same notes without feeling like a time capsule.
