This is exactly what it says on the tin: a grind. It’s not 'fun' in the way a game or a novel is, but the payoff of being able to write a thank-you note that people can actually read is worth the boredom. It’s a low-cost, high-reward way to reclaim a bit of analog competence.
If you have a middle-schooler or teen who missed the cursive boat in elementary school, this is a much better 'fix' than the primary-colored workbooks meant for six-year-olds. It treats the reader like an adult, which usually means they'll actually stick with it.
