This is Codenames with a Marvel coat of paint, and that's both good and bad. Good because Codenames is an excellent game—clever, social, quick to teach, genuinely fun across ages. Bad because if you already own regular Codenames, you're basically paying for different pictures.
But if you're new to Codenames and your family loves Marvel? This is a solid pick. The game mechanics are simple enough for an 8-year-old but engaging enough that adults won't be checking their phones. The 15-minute playtime is perfect for modern attention spans, and the team-based format means nobody's sulking in the corner after losing.
The BGG rating of 6.1 is middling, but that's mostly board game snobs being snooty about themed versions. For families, this hits the sweet spot of accessible, entertaining, and actually good for your brain. Just make sure your kids know who Gamora and Doctor Strange are, or half the clever connections will fly over their heads.
