Captain Marvel is a solid, if not spectacular, addition to the MCU that delivers on representation without being preachy about it. Carol Danvers is genuinely fun to watch—she's powerful, funny, and doesn't waste time on a forced romance subplot (refreshing!).
The 90s nostalgia works better for parents than kids, obviously, but the core story about a woman discovering she's been lied to and reclaiming her power resonates across ages. The Skrull twist adds unexpected depth to what could've been a paint-by-numbers origin story.
That said, it's not the most memorable MCU film. It's competent, entertaining, and important for the franchise, but it doesn't quite reach the heights of the best Marvel offerings. The TMDB score of 6.8 feels about right—it's good, not great. Kids who love superheroes will enjoy it, but it probably won't become their favorite rewatch.
The real win here is giving girls (and boys) a superhero who literally glows with power and refuses to be diminished. In a genre that took way too long to center a female hero, that matters.
