Ann Droid is set to be the perfect Friday night watch for families who prefer their comedy dry and their sci-fi grounded. Diane Morgan playing a 'socially inept' robot is basically the role she was born for, and pairing her with the legendary Sue Johnston is a masterstroke of casting.
It isn't going to be an action-packed spectacle, and that's the point. It looks like a sharp, slightly cynical look at how we outsource our lives to technology that isn't quite ready for the messiness of a human household. Expect more 'awkward silence' than 'robot lasers.'
