This is the alphabet book for families raising the next generation of progressives. It's not subtle—A is for Activist, F is for Feminism, Q is for Queer—but it's also not preachy. The rhymes are solid, the illustrations are vibrant, and the hidden cat game keeps toddlers engaged while you're explaining what a union is.
The 4.7 Amazon rating tells you everything: parents who want this book love it, and parents who don't... won't buy it. It's polarizing by design, which is fine—not every book needs to appeal to everyone.
The real question is whether you want to introduce these concepts to a 3-year-old. If the answer is yes, this is a well-executed, age-appropriate way to do it. If you'd rather wait until your kid can read Howard Zinn themselves, skip it. Either way, it's a competent board book that does exactly what it sets out to do.
