The "psychotic-like experiences" were also self-reported by 9- and 10-year-olds on a questionnaire; a child’s perception of a "scary thought" may not always align with a clinical diagnosis. Furthermore, the study follows children only to age 13. We do not yet know if these early "neuroscores" will accurately predict who develops a clinical psychiatric disorder in their 20s.
