The Business of the Undead
Most zombie games are about surviving the apocalypse; Zombie Catchers is about monetizing it. You play as A.J. and Bud, two intergalactic entrepreneurs who see Earth's infestation as a supply chain opportunity. It’s a clever twist that moves the game away from horror and into the realm of a lighthearted strategy-platformer.
The gameplay is split into two halves. First, you’re out in the field—swamps, deserts, and beyond—using harpoons and traps to bag zombies. It requires a bit of stealth and timing. Then, you take your 'catch' back to the underground lab to process them into snacks and juices for the masses. It sounds dark, but the art style is so bubbly and 'Nickelodeon-esque' that it never feels gruesome.
Why it holds up
In an era of mobile games bloated with social pressure and complex battle passes, this feels refreshingly focused. It’s a self-contained loop: hunt, upgrade, expand. It rewards patience and planning over fast reflexes. If your kid is into 'collection' games or likes the idea of building a weird business, this hits the spot without the overhead of a massive social world like Roblox.
The lack of social features is a major plus. You don't have to worry about who they are talking to or 'stranger danger' in the DMs. It's just a kid, some aliens, and a lot of green squeeze-bottles.
