Wonderopolis was the internet at its best: curious, clean, and completely free of the algorithmic sludge that defines 2026. It was a powerhouse for building background knowledge and vocabulary—the two things kids need most to become strong readers.
Unfortunately, the site shuttered in July 2025. Unless you're a wizard with the Wayback Machine, this recommendation is strictly for the history books. It gets a bottom-tier WISE score today simply because you can't use it, but its legacy remains the benchmark for what educational tech should strive to be.
