Let's be honest: The Wild is the movie equivalent of store-brand cereal. It's technically fine, won't hurt anyone, but nobody's excited about it.
With a 18% Rotten Tomatoes critic score and 36% audience rating, this isn't a hidden gem—it's a forgotten also-ran that arrived a year after Madagascar and brought nothing new to the table. The animation looks dated, the story is paint-by-numbers, and the characters are forgettable. Even by 2006 standards, critics called it derivative and dull.
The WISE components are okay: it's safe, mildly wholesome, and has basic positive messages about family and teamwork. But it scores terribly on imagination and enrichment because it's just... boring. Kids today, spoiled by Encanto and Spider-Verse, will likely tap out before the credits roll.
If your kid specifically requests it or you need background noise during a sick day, fine. But there are dozens of better animated films on Disney+ that will actually hold their attention and maybe even spark their imagination. This one's a skip unless you've literally watched everything else.
