This is the comfort food of children's sports books. Matt Christopher basically invented this genre, and while the 1954 prose is a bit 'dusty' and slow compared to a modern graphic novel, the core lesson still hits home.
If your kid is obsessing over having the right cleats or the 'cool' bat, this is a much better intervention than a lecture. It’s short, sweet, and safe. It won't blow their minds with plot twists, but it might actually help them relax during their next at-bat.
