Here's the truth: this is an incredible document of one of pop music's greatest performers doing what he did best. The talent is undeniable, the production is massive, the ratings are stellar.
But let's be real—it's 2+ hours of 37-year-old concert footage shot on JumboTron cameras and sourced from VHS. For modern kids, this is basically archaeological. Unless your kid is already deep into music history, dance, or specifically loves MJ, they're going to tap out.
And then there's the elephant in the room: Michael Jackson's deeply troubling allegations. You can't show this to kids without being prepared for that conversation, especially as they get older and learn more context.
This scores well on technical merit—the performance IS exceptional—but the watchability penalty is real. It's a historical artifact more than entertainment for 2025 kids. If you've got a budding dancer or musician who's curious about performance at the highest level, queue it up. Otherwise, maybe just show them the "Smooth Criminal" lean on YouTube and call it a day.
