Mathletics is the digital equivalent of a math workbook—functional, curriculum-aligned, and effective for building fluency, but not exactly thrilling. The interface feels dated (Common Sense Education specifically calls out the 'flat' animation), and kids reportedly lose interest fairly quickly.
The competitive multiplayer feature is a double-edged sword: some kids get motivated by racing against peers worldwide, while others find it stressful. The questions are described as 'rote' and non-adaptive, meaning your kid will just keep plowing through problems whether they're breezing through or struggling.
It's a perfectly fine supplemental tool if your school uses it or you need extra math practice at home. But don't expect magic—this is drill and kill with a thin layer of gamification. If your kid already hates math, this probably won't change their mind.
