Look, I Am Cait was a big deal in 2015—Caitlyn Jenner's very public transition brought trans issues into mainstream conversation. That matters.
But here's the truth: this show is hard to watch. That 3.6 IMDB rating tells you everything. Even with good intentions, it's wrapped in reality TV artifice—manufactured drama, awkward staged conversations, and that signature Kardashian-adjacent production style that makes everything feel performative.
If you're trying to educate your teen about trans experiences, there are so many better options now. Disclosure on Netflix is excellent. Pose is incredible (though mature). Even YouTube creators offer more authentic, current perspectives.
This feels like homework from 2015 that hasn't aged well. The language feels dated, the format is exhausting, and the educational payoff doesn't justify the time investment. It's a cultural artifact more than a genuine recommendation.
