Heavy Rain is a landmark in narrative gaming, but it’s a tough hang. It’s the kind of game you play once, get hollowed out by, and then think about for a week.

If you're an adult looking for a 'prestige TV' experience in game form, it’s a must-play. But for the love of everything, don't play it with your kids in the room. Between the shower scenes and the finger-chopping, you'll be answering questions you aren't ready for.

It’s a bit dated now—the controls feel like you're steering a shopping cart through a swamp—but the emotional core still hits hard.
