A visually wild anime anthology that proves there's more to the Halo universe than just shooting aliens.
Halo Legends is essentially The Animatrix for the Master Chief set. It’s a mixed bag—some episodes are genuine works of art that expand the universe, while others feel like filler meant to sell more toys.
For a kid who is obsessed with the lore, this is a goldmine. For a casual viewer, the wildly different art styles might be confusing. It’s a solid pick for a Friday night watch, especially if you want to see what happens when Japanese creators get to play in an American sci-fi sandbox.
Best for kids 12 and up. It’s essentially a PG-13 action movie broken into parts. If they’re already playing the games, they’ve seen worse, but the thematic weight of some episodes is definitely aimed at a more mature audience.

Because these are shorts, it’s a great way to engage with your kid's hobby without committing to a 100-hour campaign. You can watch an episode, talk about the art style, and be done in 20 minutes. It also provides a great entry point for talking about sacrifice and heroism—themes that are often buried under the 'shoot-everything' mechanics of the actual games. Just be prepared for the 'Odd One Out' episode, which is basically a Dragon Ball Z parody that will either make you laugh or leave you very confused.
