Let's be real: this is a cash-grab sequel that nobody asked for. The original FernGully (1992) had Tim Curry as a villain made of pollution and actual production value. This one has... fairies rescuing generic animals with animation that looks like a student project.
The environmental message is fine—protecting animals from poachers is obviously good—but the execution is so weak that your kids won't absorb it anyway because they'll be too busy asking if we can watch something else.
The ratings tell the whole story: 33% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, 4.4/10 on IMDb, 2.3/5 on Letterboxd. This isn't a hidden gem. It's available on a million free streaming platforms because nobody wants to pay for it.
If your kid is obsessed with fairies and you've literally exhausted every other option, sure, put it on. But there are dozens of better environmental movies (WALL-E, Moana, even the original FernGully) that will actually hold their attention and teach similar lessons without making you want to gouge your eyes out.
