Family Feud is the board game equivalent of chips and salsa—nobody's claiming it's gourmet, but it gets the job done at parties. It's loud, social, and requires zero brain power, which is exactly the point.
The team format is genuinely smart design: shy kids can hide in the group, competitive kids get their fix, and everyone's laughing at the absurd answers people give. The 'survey says' mechanic is more engaging than straight trivia because you're guessing what other humans think, not memorizing facts.
That said, this is cotton candy. Once you've burned through the question cards (and this birthday party version only has 18), you're done. The BGG rating of 5.5/10 reflects reality: it's fine, not great. If you need something for a one-time party or family reunion, it'll deliver. If you want a game with legs, keep shopping.
