Enter the Fat Dragon is a weird artifact. On one hand, you have Donnie Yen—one of the greatest martial artists alive—doing genuinely impressive stunt work. On the other, you have a premise that feels like it was pulled straight out of a 1995 Eddie Murphy comedy, and not in a good way.
If you can look past the dated body-shaming gags, it's a decently fun action-comedy with some great set pieces. But if you're looking for a modern, intentional take on the genre, this isn't it. It's a Saturday afternoon movie for people who just want to see some high-quality kicking and don't mind a lot of cheese.
