This is a sequel nobody asked for that arrived 20 years too late. The original Dumb and Dumber had a certain charm in 1994, but this rehash feels tired and desperate.
The humor is aggressively crude—mucus bubbles, testicle jokes, bodily fluids—and the script never rises above juvenile gross-out comedy. Critics and audiences both panned it (31% and 35% respectively on Rotten Tomatoes), and even die-hard fans of the first film found this one disappointing.
For parents: unless your high schooler specifically requests it and you're comfortable with PG-13 raunchiness, there are dozens of better comedies to watch together. This one's skippable.
