Here's the deal: critics gave this 94% because it's a pitch-perfect homage to the 1966 Batman series. Audiences gave it 68% because most people watching in 2016 (or 2025) don't have that nostalgic connection, and without it, this is just... weird.
The movie is incredibly safe and wholesome—probably the safest Batman content ever made. Adam West and Burt Ward are clearly having a blast. The villains are colorful and silly. Batman goes to space. It's all very earnest and goofy.
But let's be honest: modern kids raised on the Lego Batman movie, Spider-Verse, and MCU quip-fests are going to find this slow, strange, and borderline unwatchable. The pacing is different. The humor is different. The whole vibe is from another era.
This scores okay on WISE because it's safe and wholesome, but the watchability penalty is real. If you loved the '60s show and want to share that with your kid, go for it—but set expectations low. For most families, there are better Batman options that kids will actually enjoy.
