Look, this is a 2001 direct-to-video movie where cartoon chipmunks meet Frankenstein. It is exactly as mediocre as that sentence makes it sound.
The animation is stiff, the jokes are predictable, and those chipmunk voices will haunt your dreams. But it's also harmless, short, and designed for young kids who are curious about monsters but not ready for actual scares. If your 6-year-old is obsessed with Alvin or wants to dip a toe into Halloween-adjacent content, this won't traumatize anyone.
That said, by modern standards, this is nearly unwatchable. The 6.0 IMDb rating tells the whole story—even in 2001, people knew this was filler content. There are dozens of better options for introducing kids to friendly monsters (Hotel Transylvania, Monsters Inc., even Scooby-Doo). This is the movie you put on when you've literally run out of every other option and need 78 minutes of peace.
The WISE score reflects reality: it's safe and mildly wholesome, but it's neither enriching nor particularly imaginative, and the 'is this even watchable anymore' penalty hits hard. Nostalgia goggles can't save everything.
