Unless your kid is a budding television historian or a fan of high-octane camp, they are going to find All My Children completely unwatchable. It belongs to a different era of media consumption—one where the TV stayed on all afternoon and the plots moved at the speed of a tectonic plate.
That said, it isn't 'bad'—it's just a relic. It was a pioneer in bringing serious social issues into the mainstream, but the format is so far removed from modern attention spans that it's hard to recommend as anything other than a curiosity. If you want to show them what your grandmother was obsessed with, pull up a clip of Erica Kane, but don't expect them to sit through a week of episodes.
