Zumbo's Just Desserts is the definition of 'fine.' It's wholesome, safe, and might genuinely inspire some kids to get into baking. But let's be real—it's not appointment television.
The show's biggest strength is also its potential weakness: it's incredibly mild. No drama, no villain edits, no surprise twists. Just people making desserts while judges taste and comment. For families wanting zero-stress background viewing or kids genuinely into baking, this works. For everyone else? It's kind of a snooze.
The IMDB 6.9 rating tells the story—it's competent but not compelling. The 2016 production already feels a bit dated, and there are frankly better baking shows out there now (GBBO, Nailed It for laughs, even Is It Cake for spectacle). This won't hurt anyone, but it probably won't thrill them either.
