Look, I'll be straight with you: this is a third Disney Channel sequel from 2004, and it shows. The original Zenon (1999) had some charm as a quirky space-set teen movie, but by Z3, the franchise was on life support.
The ratings tell the story—46% on Rotten Tomatoes, 5.2/10 on IMDb, 2.5/5 on Letterboxd. Even nostalgic millennials who loved the first movie can't muster enthusiasm for this one. It's not bad in any concerning way—it's perfectly safe, perfectly wholesome Disney Channel fare. It's just... unnecessary and kind of boring.
The futuristic setting that felt fresh in 1999 now looks like a time capsule of early-2000s aesthetics trying to imagine the future. The 'Galactic Teen Supreme' contest is basically American Idol in space, which was already feeling tired by 2004.
If your kid is 8 and systematically watching every DCOM on Disney+, fine—this won't hurt them. But there are genuinely dozens of better options in the same catalog. This is a "sure, if they really want to" not a "you should check this out."
