Let's be brutally honest: a 2.7/10 on IMDb is catastrophically bad. For context, that's lower than most shows that get cancelled after three episodes. This is a formulaic Tyler Perry sitcom that takes a potentially interesting premise—a hip-hop loving kid clashing with his wealthy relatives—and apparently does absolutely nothing interesting with it.
The show is safe in the sense that it won't traumatize your kids, but it also won't entertain them, teach them anything meaningful, or hold their attention. The laugh track, predictable plots, and broad stereotypes that define Tyler Perry's sitcom style feel especially dated in 2025, and kids who've grown up on shows with actual wit and heart will likely check out immediately.
Is it the worst thing on TV? Maybe not. But with literally thousands of better options available on the same streaming platforms, there's zero reason to subject your family to this. Even if your kid is a huge Dylan Gilmer fan (the young rapper who stars), you'd be better off just watching his music videos.
