Here's the thing: even the Supernatural fandom—one of the most devoted fan bases in TV history—gave this a collective shrug. That 100% critics vs 42% audience split on Rotten Tomatoes is brutal and tells you critics were being polite while actual viewers were honest.
The show got canceled after one season, which means you're investing in an incomplete story that doesn't pay off. It's got the typical Supernatural formula—monsters, hunting, family drama—but without the chemistry and writing that made the original work for 15 seasons.
If your teen is absolutely obsessed with Supernatural and has rewatched it multiple times, sure, they might enjoy seeing young John and Mary. But for everyone else? There are way better supernatural teen shows out there (Wednesday, Stranger Things, etc.) that actually stick the landing. This one's a skip unless you're a completist who needs every drop of Winchester content.
