The Untamed Sky is a refreshing break from the usual YA shelf. Instead of another dystopian rebellion, you get a grounded mystery rooted in the Southwest and Navajo tradition.
Win and Meredith Blevins clearly know their way around a horse and the desert. It’s not a 'fast' read in the sense of constant explosions, but it’s a rich one. If your kid is into horses, culture, or just wants a mystery that feels like it actually happens in a real place, this is a solid pick. It’s wholesome without being cheesy and educational without feeling like a social studies assignment.
