The Mill has one of those premises that sounds great in a pitch meeting: mysterious prison, forced labor at a grist mill, desperate escape before your child is born. Cool! Unfortunately, the execution lands with a thud—46% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 5.4 on IMDb tell you this is a miss.
The severe profanity, graphic violence, and relentlessly bleak tone make it completely inappropriate for kids or teens. And even for adults who might appreciate a weird dystopian thriller, the mediocre reviews suggest you're better off watching something else. The horror-satire angle hints at social commentary about corporate exploitation, but it doesn't seem to land with much impact.
If you're a die-hard fan of surreal psychological thrillers and you've exhausted everything else on your watchlist, maybe give it a shot. Otherwise, this is a skip.
