Look, The Bourne Legacy isn't terrible, it's just... unnecessary. It's the franchise's awkward middle child that nobody really connects with.
The action is competent, Renner tries his best, but the whole thing feels like a 135-minute shrug. Critics were lukewarm, audiences were lukewarm, and that 2.8/5 on Letterboxd tells you everything—even film nerds couldn't muster enthusiasm.
For parents: if your 14+ teen is really into spy movies and has burned through the original Bourne trilogy, sure, they can watch this. The violence is intense but genre-typical. Just don't expect them to remember much about it afterward.
The real question isn't 'Is this appropriate?' but 'Is this worth two hours of anyone's life?' And honestly? Probably not. There are better action movies, better spy thrillers, and better ways to spend family movie night. It's the cinematic equivalent of eating plain oatmeal—not harmful, just deeply uninspiring.
