Look, I want to celebrate weird indie sci-fi as much as the next person, but Space Milkshake is one of those movies where the premise is more fun than the actual film.
A mutating rubber duck villain named Gary? That's genuinely creative! But a 5.6 IMDb rating tells you everything you need to know about the execution. The 96% Rotten Tomatoes audience score is suspiciously high and likely based on a tiny sample of people who self-selected into watching a movie called 'Space Milkshake.'
The bigger issue: there's no MPAA rating, so you have no idea what you're getting into content-wise. For a 2012 indie that's bouncing around free streaming platforms, that's a red flag.
Bottom line: unless your teen is specifically into campy, low-budget sci-fi and you're willing to pre-screen it, there are hundreds of better space comedies and quirky indies worth your time. Galaxy Quest, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, even Paul—all better uses of 90 minutes.
