Look, this is bottom-tier Disney direct-to-video content from an era when they were churning out endless talking-animal sequels. It's the fifth Air Bud spinoff, and it shows.
The good news: it's completely safe and harmless for little kids. Cute puppies, simple teamwork message, nothing scary. If you need 90 minutes of peace and your 4-year-old likes dogs, fine.
The bad news: it's aggressively mediocre. The 5.1 IMDb rating and 2.6 Letterboxd score tell the story—this is forgettable filler. The animation of the talking mouths looks cheap, the plot is paint-by-numbers, and there's zero creative spark. It was dated when it came out in 2008, and it's practically unwatchable for modern kids who've grown up with actually good animated content.
There's also a dark cloud over this production—several puppies died during filming from parvovirus due to inadequate care, which led to new animal safety protocols. That doesn't affect the viewing experience, but it's worth knowing.
Bottom line: if your preschooler is obsessed with puppies and you've exhausted better options, sure. Otherwise, skip it. There are dozens of better family films on Disney+ that won't make you want to gnaw your arm off.
