This isn't one of those dry, boring biographies they force you to read in the school library. It’s actually engaging.
Jen Bryant manages to capture the specific frustration of a smart kid who is being told 'no' by the world and decides to find his own 'yes.'
It’s a must-read if you want to talk about disability or innovation without it feeling like a lecture. Plus, the art is fantastic and keeps even the wiggly kids focused.

It’s a story about pure grit and the desire to connect with the world. It models persistence without being preachy or saccharine.

It's a picture book, so very safe. The only minor 'watch out' is the description of the accident—Louis injuring his eye with a tool—which might make squeamish kids wince.
