Here's the thing: this is a perfectly fine documentary about DC villains that probably seemed more necessary in 2013 before the superhero movie boom gave us a thousand hours of villain content. The ratings tell the story—a 6.8 on IMDb and 3.2/5 on Letterboxd means 'meh, it's okay.'
It's not bad, but it's also not particularly insightful or entertaining. If your 11-year-old is deep into DC lore and wants to understand the history of these characters, sure, throw it on. But be prepared for them to zone out during the slower parts.
The safety concerns are minimal—it's a documentary, so violence is discussed and shown in clips but not gratuitous. Common Sense Media's age 10+ recommendation seems right.
Bottom line: This is homework for DC superfans, not entertainment for casual viewers. There are better ways to spend 99 minutes unless your kid is writing a school report on the evolution of comic book antagonists.
