An 'extreme' 2005 anime-style toy commercial that hasn't aged particularly well, but still delivers on the explosions and high-tech gadgets.
This isn't the G.I. Joe you remember from the 80s. It’s a loud, flashy, mid-2000s experiment that tried to give the Joes an anime facelift. While it’s safe enough for most elementary-aged kids, it’s just not very good.
Unless your kid is a military-obsessed completionist or just really likes seeing robots blow up, there are much better action shows from this decade that actually have a soul. The 4.8 IMDb rating is a pretty honest reflection of how much this one missed the mark for fans.
Best for kids aged 6 to 11 who are in that 'action figure' sweet spot. It's too simple for teens and likely too aggressive for preschoolers.

If you grew up with the 1980s A Real American Hero, Sigma 6 will feel like a fever dream. Produced by the Japanese studio Gonzo, this series was Hasbro's attempt to compete with the rising popularity of anime like Gundam and Dragon Ball Z. The result is a show that looks like a hyper-stylized version of a military recruitment poster.
The characters are younger, the weapons are glowier, and the stakes feel weirdly lower because everything is so high-tech. The show exists primarily because Hasbro changed the scale of their action figures to 8 inches, and they needed a show to explain why Duke was suddenly wearing a robotic exoskeleton.
For a modern kid, the animation might actually look 'retro-cool,' but the storytelling is a slog. Unlike modern masterpieces like The Dragon Prince or even the newer G.I. Joe: Renegades, Sigma 6 doesn't care about serialized storytelling or character arcs. It’s purely episodic 'mission of the week' stuff. If you're looking for something for your kid to have on in the background while they build LEGOs, it’s fine. But don't expect them to be asking deep questions about the plot when the credits roll.
