Here's the thing: Exterritorial has a genuinely intriguing premise. A mother trapped in legal no-man's-land searching for her vanished son? That's compelling on paper. Critics seemed to appreciate the technical execution (80% RT).
But audiences? They were not feeling it. A 52% audience score, 5.8 on IMDb, and 2.7 on Letterboxd tells you this is a thriller that doesn't quite thrill. It's the kind of movie you'll watch on Netflix on a random Tuesday, forget by Wednesday, and when someone mentions it next month you'll say "Oh yeah, I think I saw that?"
For families, this is absolutely not kid-friendly—the child endangerment theme alone makes it rough viewing, and the action-thriller violence pushes it firmly into teen/adult territory. Even for older teens, though, there are way better thrillers out there. This one's a skip unless you've literally exhausted every other option in the Netflix queue.
