Here's the uncomfortable truth: eFootball launched as one of the most disastrous game releases in history. Konami took the beloved Pro Evolution Soccer series, rebranded it, made it free-to-play, and released a buggy, feature-stripped mess that enraged fans worldwide.
Years later, it's improved but still struggles with identity. The core soccer gameplay can be decent, but it's buried under loot box mechanics for player acquisition, limited free content, and unmoderated online play where kids will absolutely encounter inappropriate language.
For soccer-loving kids, this is a hard sell. EA Sports FC (the new FIFA) offers better gameplay, more content, and a more polished experience. eFootball's main advantage is being free, but the monetization pressure and quality issues make that "free" tag feel expensive in other ways.
If your kid is already playing and enjoying it? Fine. But if you're choosing a soccer game for the first time, spend the money on EA Sports FC instead. You'll get better value and fewer headaches.
