Let's be real: this is a glorified trailer that got released as a 'short film' to build hype for Blade Runner 2049. If you're a Blade Runner superfan, it adds some interesting worldbuilding about how replicants became legal again. If you're not? It's six minutes of Jared Leto being ominous in a boardroom.
The philosophical questions about artificial life are legitimately interesting, but there's not enough runtime to explore them meaningfully. It's competently made, visually slick, and thematically on-brand for the franchise—but it's also completely inaccessible to anyone who isn't already deep in that universe.
For families: this isn't for kids, period. The themes are mature, the tone is bleak, and honestly, your teen would need to have seen the original Blade Runner films to even understand what's happening. Even then, they'd probably just shrug and say 'okay, cool aesthetic I guess.'
The middling ratings (6.9 IMDb, 3.2/5 Letterboxd) tell the story: it's fine for what it is, but what it is is pretty niche.
