Look, Under the Dome had potential. A Stephen King premise about a mysterious dome trapping a small town? Could be great! And for about six episodes, it kind of is.
Then it becomes a hot mess of illogical plotting, characters making inexplicably stupid decisions, and violence that feels gratuitous rather than meaningful. The show was universally panned by critics and even die-hard fans abandoned it before the finale. It's the kind of show where you watch the first season thinking 'this could go somewhere' and then by season three you're hate-watching just to see how bad it can get.
For families? This is a hard pass. The violence is frequent and graphic, there's sexual content, and the overall tone is relentlessly dark. More importantly, it's just not good enough to justify sitting through. There are so many better sci-fi mysteries out there—go watch Lost, or The Leftovers, or even Stranger Things if you want mystery with actual payoff.
If you're an adult with nothing else to watch and you enjoy yelling at your TV about plot holes, maybe give season one a shot. Otherwise, skip this dome entirely.
