This is a solid, no-nonsense resource for the 'bridge' year. Twelve is that weird age where kids are expected to act like adults but are still treated like children. Hayden Fox manages to bridge that gap by giving them actual tools instead of just platitudes.
It’s not a gripping thriller, and it won't replace their favorite graphic novel, but as far as 'instruction manuals for life' go, this one is readable and relevant. It’s the kind of book you leave on their nightstand and hope they skim—and they probably will because it actually answers the questions they're too embarrassed to ask you.
