Let's be real: this movie bombed for a reason. With a 13% critic score and 34% audience score, View from the Top is a textbook example of early-2000s rom-com mediocrity that hasn't aged well.
The premise—small-town girl dreams of becoming a first-class flight attendant—could have been charming, but the execution is apparently so formulaic and uninspired that even audiences in 2003 weren't having it. Fast forward to 2025, and the dated sensibility, tired jokes, and predictable plot make this genuinely hard to watch.
There's nothing particularly harmful here (hence the moderate safety score), but there's also nothing worth your family's time. The WISE score reflects reality: this isn't enriching, it's not imaginative, and while it's technically wholesome in its 'follow your dreams' messaging, it's so poorly done that the message gets lost.
If your teen wants a rom-com, there are dozens of better options. If they want career inspiration, watch literally anything else. This one earned its spot in the HBO back catalog where it can collect dust peacefully.
