Twilight Struggle is legitimately one of the best board games ever made, and the accolades aren't hype. It's a masterclass in game design that manages to be both a gripping strategic experience and an engaging history lesson.
The barrier to entry is real—you need two people willing to commit 3 hours and learn a complex ruleset. But for families with older teens or adult game enthusiasts, this is gold. You'll finish a game having absorbed more about Cold War geopolitics than a semester of high school history, and you'll immediately want to play again.
The only reason this isn't a 90+ overall is accessibility: the learning curve, playtime, and strictly-two-player format mean it's not for everyone. But if your household has even one teen interested in history or strategy games, this is a must-own.
