This isn't the sanitized version they hand out in high school English. It’s the raw, unapologetic manuscript that was used as evidence against Wilde in his trial for 'indecency.'
It is brilliant, dark, and deeply cynical. While the 'uncensored' bits aren't going to shock a modern kid used to HBO, the psychological weight of Dorian’s cruelty is heavy. It's a fantastic read for a mature teen who likes dark stories, but it’s definitely not 'light' reading. Expect long tangents on Victorian philosophy mixed with a slow-motion car crash of a man's soul.
