This is a perfectly competent music documentary that tells an undeniably compelling story. Shania's journey from poverty and abuse to global superstardom to devastating betrayal to comeback is genuinely inspiring, and she's a solid role model for perseverance and authenticity.
That said, it's not going to blow anyone's mind with its filmmaking. It's the standard documentary playbook: archival footage, interviews, performance clips, chronological storytelling. The 7.1 IMDb rating feels about right—good, not great.
The emotional content is real and heavy. If your teen is sensitive or dealing with family issues, the childhood abuse discussion might hit hard. The betrayal storyline is also genuinely painful to watch unfold.
Bottom line: If you've got a music-loving teen (especially girls) who needs to see a woman who refused to play by the rules and built an empire anyway, this delivers. Just know it's not all glitter and leopard print—there's real pain in this story too.
