Rio 2 is the definition of 'fine.' It's colorful, safe, and will keep little kids entertained for an hour and forty minutes while you fold laundry. But let's be real: critics hated it, audiences were lukewarm, and it's the kind of sequel that exists purely because the first one made money.
The Amazon setting is gorgeous, and there are some fun musical moments, but the story is predictable and the humor rarely lands. It's not bad enough to turn off, but it's not good enough to remember. The environmental themes are window dressing, and the character development is minimal.
If your 6-year-old is obsessed with the first Rio, sure, throw this on. But don't expect it to become a family favorite or teach any meaningful lessons. It's perfectly safe, perfectly forgettable streaming filler.
